Building Contracts

Best Practice

Consumer advice groups all recommend having a contract with your contractor but most people do not know which contract is best and even when they do identify a good contract, it’s not often easy to understand the terms and variables. The contract provides for numerous options and the terminology used often takes an explanation from an expert so that you can assess what terms and clauses suit your needs best.

Gold Standard

Clear Surveys will prepare a detailed JCT contract, known as the gold standard amongst building contracts in the UK. We will take time to explain the variables to you and help you decide on the options such as retentions, defects periods, who insures what and when, exact contract value, duration of the project and liquidated damages for non completion. We will draw up a Heads of Terms document for both you and the contractor to check through before we proceed to drafting the final contract.

Man Signing

Once everyone is in agreement, we will prepare the final contract for signature so that the works can commence without delay. The contract is typically administered by a competent Contract Administrator to ensure the project runs correctly and the contract is completed to the correct standards.
